Rosenhan 03:54
don't hold me back, I want to know how far he goes in giving me just what I ask, not what I need is it my mind you want? secrets of rosenhan I've got a hand, a royal flush of anomalies arrest me now, we live in fear of eccentricities is it my mind you want? secrets of rosenhan

if you were a fish I would throw you back without a moment's hesitation but if you were a fly I would cast a net and bug your eyes that's right if you were a fish I would put away the knife it ain't worth the frustration but to the fly I would set a trap and watch it die and butterflies won't fly again if you insist on clipping their wings again and spiders won't last a day there's nothing like just spinning away if you were a fish I would pose for polaroids and hang you by the tail but if you were a fly I would swat you out of the sky that's right and butterflies won't fly again if you insist on clipping their wings again and spiders won't last a day there's nothing like just spinning away if you were a fish if you were a fish I would throw you back without a moment's hesitation but if you were a fly I would cast a net and bug your eyes and butterflies won't fly again if you insist on clipping their wings again and spiders won't last a day there's nothing like just spinning away

Levels 03:00
level four, we don't know what will happen next, but we're ready for it level three, ahead of the world with minimal death, and minimal loss level two, it's hard to rewind out of our houses, out of our minds ahead of the world you don't have a clue people let down by idiots like you level one, nobody dies a simple secret that nobody tried we were ahead of the world it don't mean a thing people let down by idiots like you

Miscast 01:48
walking into the nest it’s easy to look your best but we’re not made of stone or chrome alone our perfect asymmetry tells on us, exposes us that we’re not meant to be among the free we can’t shed our real skins but we can try to blend in but this can’t go on forever in the meantime we play a part we’re miscast as robots

The Deep End 10:47
I wish I had learned how to swim I bet I could do anything I don’t even need to be the best in the world I wish I had gone overseas you never know what you’re gonna see I’m bored of the world on the screen in your eyes I wish I had learned how to drive then I would know how to be alive I played it too safe for my age I don’t believe in American dreams I wish I had learned how to swim I bet I could do anything I don’t even need to be the best in the world I wish I had gone to boarding school but I was just ten and such a fool and there’s no way I’d go there now they ruin young life I wish I had played less guitar and spent more time with the calculator but I couldn’t resist very long you don’t win friends with maths they got in there first long ago they didn’t leave a thing they stole it away long ago they didn’t leave a thing they plundered it all long ago and left us all behind and they won’t give up and just die off they’ll take us to their grave I wish I was born a wealthy man with nothing to do but sit on my hands then I wouldn’t be so unsure about this I wish I had learned how to swim I bet I could do anything I don’t even need to be the best they ruin young life

this isn't what I want to say but it's all i can say till you're here this isn't what I want to do it's such a problem now you're here I've got to catch this butterfly before I touch its wings and it dies a soft touch can be a straw, just a little too much you can't hear a twig break in a forest a little mistake I can't help but make when you're perfect and I'm fake
7.
i didn't have to be so cruel i never meant to be that way so it seems i just can't run away it took a long time to get here i can't afford to be so blunt 'cause it's not like I can run when i'm under your sick thumb it wasn't meant to end this way the stars were never so arranged but the will of what may be is made and it's not like you can hear when you're part of the machine black out the sun we are the ones who tried to lower the moon we are the ones who tried to kill everyone and see how far they got so kill everyone it's not like i would care
8.
when i'm with you i don't get nervous or cold when i'm with you i can't be frightened or mad when i'm with you you're not all i ever think of when i'm with you i am in love when i'm with you i care for nothing else in the world when i'm with you i see to suffer oppositely when i'm with you i know there is nothing i cannot be when i'm with you i am in love
9.
do we need more time to kill more all of mine is spent short supplies of melatonin medical second choice don't close your eyes it's all for you don't say it's lies in your bliss i hear the news i fear it might be true in your words i can't describe the world i see outside do we need more time to kill more all of mine is spent

about

Anecdata's second album of 2022, 'Miscast', couldn't be more different to April's 'Team of Just One'. Almost all the buzzsaw guitars are gone, replaced by hazy synths, drum machines and layered, echoing vocals at funereal paces.

The collection of nine songs (plus bonus tracks and demos if you grab the whole album) has been a long time in the works - some of the final mixes using material recorded nearly a decade ago. A few of the songs date back to the early 2000s, while others were literally recorded in the space of a couple of days in May 2022.
